The Plough Coton is a Cambridge gastropub serving fresh locally sourced produce amongst a relaxed village atmosphere, with a contemporary and comfortable interior, and friendly staff.
Perfect for both summer and winter the Plough has a cosy crackling fire for those chilly winter nights, and a large garden to enjoy those long summer evenings.
We are open 6 days a week for lunch through to dinner to enjoy a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The Plough is a real destination pub for walkers and cyclists, families, businesses and locals alike.
The Plough Coton is proud to be part of the family-owned Benedetto Restaurant group, leading the Cambridge dining experience and serving up award-winning food since 1972.
(OWNER & MANAGER)
” Welcome to The Plough Coton; I’ve always been passionate about creating an environment that’s an extension of welcoming people into my own home. As an Italian family, it’s important to me that people feel welcomed and relaxed when visiting The Plough, whether it be for a quick drink or a special occasion.
The Plough was the first restaurant as part of the Benedetto group to bridge out from the city centre and bring a more relaxed dining experience. I wanted to create a gastropub, as the word signifies a place with a superior level of service, high-quality food, and always being welcomed by faces you recognise. That’s what we always aim to achieve and exceed thanks to our brilliant team and great location.”
(HEAD CHEF)
” Matthew has worked in the industry for over 15 years and has a passion for pairing together unusual ingredients which create mouth-watering, fresh seasonal dishes. Mathew is a trained butcher and spent several years working in high end banqueting, catering large groups and events. More recently he has worked in a variety of Rosette restaurants before joining The Plough as Head Chef in 2022. His main inspiration is Gordon Ramsay and Heston Blumenthal.”
(MANAGER)
” I’ve been part of The Plough family for 5 years. I love everything about food and hospitality and my main passion is learning about wine. I have recently received my qualification in level 1 & 2 WSET Wine Training. We have an excellent wine menu here at The Plough with wide range of option by the glass too. I enjoy chatting with customers and making them feel warm and welcome. The food here is fantastic, and I’m really proud to be able to serve up dishes that look and taste brilliant.
Away from the Plough I’m a mum of one who enjoys running and walking around the Cambridge countryside. I’m also a keen photographer, and you can usually find me snapping away pictures for our social media accounts.”
(ASSISTANT MANAGER)
With 10+ years in the hospitality industry, I bring a wealth of knowledge and service to this already successful gastropub.
The food and wine selection are top of the line and we have so much passion for what we serve. I have recently introduced a cocktail menu to add to our already strong drinks list.
Away from The Plough I enjoy hiking, climbing and playing rugby for a local team in Cambridgeshire. My true passion would be the beer of the world, loving to sample and taste all types and bring them here to add to our already superb selection.
